Nicola obtained a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Honours) (2:1) from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2005 and went on to study the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School achieving a Commendation in 2007.
Nicola joined Thaliwal & Veja Solicitors in 2012 and has been fully immersed in the Mental Health Department for 11 years. She became a member of the Mental Health Accreditation Scheme in 2016 and qualified as a solicitor specialising in Mental Health law in 2018.
Nicola has found a great affinity in wanting to help those subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act as she feels it has afforded the privilege to advocate for those who by virtue of their afflictions are unable to adequately do so for themselves.
Nicola thoroughly enjoys successfully managing a bustling and increasing caseload, and the effective application of oral and written advocacy on behalf of clients in both Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers Hearings.
As for additional interests that complement her investment to the work environment, family and friends play an extremely important role. Cycling, running, cooking and baking are frequent and enjoyable relaxing pursuits and reading, film and music provide inspiration, insight and enjoyment.
