Amanpreet Benning

Amanpreet studied her undergraduate law degree at De Montfort University before completing her LPC at the University of Law in Birmingham. Having joined Thaliwal and Veja Solicitors in 2018 as a paralegal, Amanpreet has gained invaluable experience in the Court of Protection department and qualified as a solicitor with the firm in 2021.

Amanpreet has a varied case load and represents both P in s.21a proceedings in exercising their right to appeal their deprivation of liberty and family members in contentious and complex health and welfare cases. She has developed a particular expertise in representing clients in cases that involve best interest decisions around marriage and capacity to engage in sexual relations.

Amanpreet takes pride in representing the most vulnerable individuals in society and supporting them to have a voice. Amanpreet has a keen interest in cases with a cultural dynamic and is not shy to push boundaries against public bodies who have statutory duties towards the client in order to achieve the best possible outcome for them.

Amanpreet is the treasurer of the Leicestershire Junior Lawyers Division and enjoys her role as a committee member. She is keen to support junior lawyers and those seeking to enter the profession.

Amanpreet supports a number of charities including those that are important to the firm and the firm’s ethos. Amanpreet has been involved in fundraising for local mental health charities including completing the Wolf Run not once, but twice and donating to the local foodbank. Amanpreet is proud of how the firm gives back to the community and those in need.

Amanpreet enjoys the simple things in life; a good cup of tea and a good night’s sleep. Amanpreet is a social butterfly with limited battery power. She enjoys meeting new people but on her terms, recognising that the mental health of all those involved in these interactions are important.
