Janet Hall

Janet qualified as a solicitor in 2000. She joined the Court of Protection department at Thaliwal & Veja in early 2024. She brings with her a wealth of legal experience earned from working in the public and private sectors. A skilled solicitor advocate with rights of audience in the higher courts, Janet has represented clients in many different arenas and has always strived to get the best outcome for them. She has also worked in legal education, helping to train and encourage the next generation of solicitors and paralegals.

As a lawyer, Janet is motivated by a strong sense of fairness and has always worked in areas of law dealing with the most vulnerable in society. Janet studied law at Leicester University. She trained and qualified as a solicitor while working in the North West before returning to Leicester where she has lived for the past 18 years.

She was attracted to join the Court of Protection team at Thaliwal & Veja because of their excellent reputation, their energy and vitality, the high standards the department hold themselves to, particularly in relation to external regulatory bodies such as the Legal Aid Agency, and their charitable work within the local community.

Janet herself has always taken a keen interest in voluntary and charitable work. In the past she has served on the board of governors for a secondary school in a deprived area of Leicester and volunteered with a mentoring organisation helping vulnerable students achieve their potential in GCSE examinations.

Born and raised in Cumbria, Janet spent much of her childhood hiking with her family, mostly willingly, in the Lake District. An accomplished sportswoman in her youth, Janet played hockey at county level and regionally for the North of England.

Now, as a busy mother of two school-aged children, Janet is a keen runner and has completed many 10k runs and half marathons, including Leicester, Nottingham and The Great North Run. Through her running, and other activities, she has in recent years raised more than £4,000 for local and national charities, including the Alzheimer’s Society, LOROS, Leicester Hospitals Charitable Trust and the Children’s Brain Tumour Research.

Janet also advocates for close family members; one who suffers with dementia and another who has special educational needs.
